Creating the Earthen Body series was one of the most joyful experiences of my life. The process emerged during my search for renewal after my husband's death. The first photographs were taken in April 2007 at Madera Hills Ranch, Texas. The series continued to unfold over the next year in lush Pacific coast forests, arid western deserts, and the magical south island of New Zealand. All
of the dissolving and restoration I had been through opened a
level of fierceness that transformed me. I am able to be
alone and free, in remote and beautiful locations, without fear
or apprehension. The images revealed themselves as I
surrendered, moving into a collaborative dialogue with the
earth.
